Have the Dog Talk early on in dating
I agree with the fiancee who wouldn't give up her dog for her fiance's daughter

A few years ago, I was hired by a client to investigate the pros and cons of online dating sites. About the only way I could really get a feel for how the site works was to join a bunch of them. One thing I noticed on occasion was people complaining about singles who loved their pets. There was a weird hostility about dog lovers, which was insane to me considering the anger was coming from men — so much for “man’s best friend.” You would think it was the other way around, but women were consistently posting photos of their dogs — and not nearly the stereotypical cat. (Men were shamed or ignored for posting photos of their cats.)
Either way, there was a clear divide over pet lovers and non-pet lovers, and I could never wrap my mind around why they bothered to date. I was guilty of dating a man who wasn’t into dogs, but I’d already dated him in my early 20s and circled the block. Interestingly, he mentioned he liked dogs on his profile solely because he knew how people looked at those who don’t like animals. Wild times we live in when people are lying on their dog loving.
ADVERTISEMENT ~ Amazon
As an Amazon affiliate, I earn a percentage from purchases with my referral links. I know some consumers are choosing to boycott Amazon for its DEI removal. However, after thinking about this thoroughly, I want to continue promoting cool products from small businesses, women-owned businesses and (specifically) Black-owned businesses who still feature their items on Amazon. As of the first date of Black History Month 2025, each new post will ALWAYS include a MINIMUM of one product sold by a Black-owned business. (I have visited the seller’s official site to verify that Amazon Black-owned logo.) I am (slowly) doing this with older, popular posts too. If you still choose to boycott, I 100% respect that decision.
In the case of this Reddit post (via Buzzfeed) though, a couple broke off their wedding plans when the fiancee refused to get rid of her Golden Retriever of seven years because of the fiance’s 9-year-old daughter, who is severely allergic to dogs.
