My DIY drywall project was more successful than my DIY dog trap
No chair, no ottoman, no gap in the wall will stop Junee from spying

Junee is in rare form these days. At the start of the week, I was typing away on my smartphone as we walked. Out of the corner of my eye, Junee — who usually pays bare minimum attention to Chicago rats — decided this was the day she was going to try to put her whole nose on one while it was busy hunting something in the grass. When she slowed down, I looked up from my phone to see this nosy dog. I gasped loudly, yanked her away and walked backward, just hoping that live rat didn’t turn around. For the rest of the walk, I was way more alert.

As an Amazon affiliate, I earn a percentage from purchases with my referral links. I know some consumers are choosing to boycott Amazon for its DEI removal. However, after thinking about this thoroughly, I want to continue promoting cool products from small businesses, women-owned businesses and (specifically) Black-owned businesses who still feature their items on Amazon. As of the first date of Black History Month 2025, each new post will ALWAYS include a MINIMUM of one product sold by a Black-owned business. (I have visited the seller’s official site to verify that Amazon Black-owned logo.) I am (slowly) doing this with older, popular posts too. If you still choose to boycott, I 100% respect that decision.
Not to be outdone with raising my blood pressure once, she’s done it again in a comical way. This week, I decided to take on a do-it-yourself spackling project and fix the wall where two electric baseboard heaters were. Today was Day 2. This was also the day that Junee decided she was going to get around my booby trap to keep her away from the spackling paste. I saw my dog appear in the window and fly away.
