Happy 2nd Birthday to Junee!
Two years wiser, and she still won't stop sitting on me during meditation
Wow! Junee is 2 years old. Time flies by when you're having fun—with a 33-pound dog who flops on your chest and stares at you to make sure you're breathing through morning meditation. (My ribs must be getting stronger every day.)
I adopted this Hound mix when she was 4 months old. I originally looked at super small puppies and said, "I don't want a dog who feels too big for my condo." But I just kept clicking on the photo of this then-puppy over and over and over again.
When Felines & Canines said she'd just gotten there a few days ago and was the only one left of the group, I kept thinking, "Who in their right mind passed her up?"
As soon as I paid the adoption fee and walked over to the pet adoption agency to pick her up, the 15.8-pound puppy took one look at me, stared, turned around, squatted and pooped on the floor. She was NOT trying to impress me at all. Right then and there, I knew this dog would be perfect for my personality.
So what are we doing to celebrate? For some odd reason, we both overslept and my alarm wasn’t on. We stared at each other from bed to crate, rolled over thinking of how cold it was and eventually stood up.
Halfway around the block, I heard an email notification alert from the Dog Aging Project, so I know I have to fill out updates there.
I started singing the “Happy Birthday” song after I saw the email request. She was originally strolling around peacefully and yawning. But when she heard me singing, she looked up and started zig-zagging back and forth like a maniac. I don’t think anything could delight her more than returning home to see me open a peanut butter jar and spreading a couple spoonsful into her dog dish.
I freaking love this Hound mix, even when she wears me out. Happy Birthday, Junee!
